KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Agrobank today launched the Agrobazar Ramadan financing initiative, offering loans ranging from RM1,000 to RM100,000 for Ramadan bazaar traders, with a repayment term of up to seven years.

In a statement, Agrobank said the initiative, running from Feb 13 to March 31, is open to both new and existing customers looking to start or expand their Ramadan bazaar businesses.

“The Agrobazar Ramadan initiative aims to provide financial support to traders involved in various businesses, such as selling cooked dishes, traditional snacks, festive clothing, and other essentials,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Agrobank president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said the initiative seeks to support traders in running food-based businesses and other commercial activities throughout the month.

“We are also providing exclusive Agrobank canopies to ease the traders’ burden of setting up their businesses,” he added.

Meanwhile, Agrobank, through Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated, has partnered with local authorities, including the Shah Alam City Council and Subang Jaya City Council, to promote the 2025 Cashless Ramadan Bazaar Campaign.

The initiative also involves the Selayang Municipal Council, Kajang Municipal Council, and Ampang Jaya Municipal Council.

Agrobank stated that the campaign was developed in collaboration with these five local councils and PayNet to encourage small traders to adopt Agrobank’s QR code as their primary payment method.

Traders using Agrobank’s DuitNow QR for payments at 16 selected Ramadan bazaar locations will also have the chance to win a total of RM40,000 in cash prizes.

Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah reaffirmed Agrobank’s strong support for the Selangor state government’s efforts to enhance socioeconomic well-being and stimulate economic growth in the state.

"Agrobank remains committed to supporting micro-entrepreneurs and underserved communities by providing flexible financing to help them succeed in their businesses," he said.

Further details on eligibility and application procedures may be obtained from Agrobank’s official website or any of its branches.
