Arham Abdullah Appointed UMK Vice-Chancellor

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- Prof Dr Arham Abdullah has been appointed as the seventh vice-chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), effective this Sunday.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in a statement today said the appointment was made to replace the previous vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Razli Che Razak.

“With his vast experience in institutional leadership and organisational administration at multiple levels, the ministry believes Prof Dr Arham Abdullah is capable of steering UMK towards academic development and innovation-driven excellence, optimally nurturing the best talents in the country, especially in entrepreneurship,” it said.

Arham graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 1998 and 1999, respectively, before earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Construction Management from Loughborough University, United Kingdom, in 2003.

He began his professional journey as a lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 1999, before being appointed deputy director (Innovation) at the UTM Innovation and Commercialisation Centre, where he served from 2010 to 2014.

In 2014, Arham was seconded to the Department of Higher Education, taking on the role of director of the Industrial Relations Division for five years, before being appointed deputy vice-chancellor (Research and Innovation) at UMK in 2019.

In the meantime, the MOHE conveyed its utmost appreciation and gratitude to Razli for his dedicated service in leading UMK since March 1, 2022.
