PETRA TO DISCUSS THE NEED FOR NUCLEAR ENERGY THROUGH JPPPET
KUALA LUMPUR -- The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) will discuss the need for nuclear energy and the overall development plan for Peninsular Malaysia through the Planning and Implementation Committee for Electricity Supply and Tariff (JPPPET).
Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said this would be carried out if the government decides to utilise nuclear energy as a safe and effective alternative source for electricity generation.
“This discussion aims to ensure a well-structured and more inclusive electricity planning and distribution by considering the actual needs and capabilities of the country’s electricity supply system,” he said when replying to a question from Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran).
Kiandee had wanted to know about the potential of nuclear energy as a national energy source and whether the ministry would review the existing nuclear programme to meet new demands.

MOT TO CONSIDER TOUGHER ACTION AGAINST SYNDICATES RENTING TYRES TO MANIPULATE PUSPAKOM INSPECTIONS
KUALA LUMPUR -- The government will review the existing legal framework to explore stricter measures against syndicates that rent out tyres and spare parts to manipulate vehicle inspection approvals at Puspakom.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said such practices are highly irresponsible, compromising both road safety and the integrity of the vehicle inspection system.
“Changing tyres is legally permissible and necessary to meet inspection requirements. However, the problem arises when tyres that meet inspection standards are replaced with old or unsafe tyres after the inspection is completed,” he said.
He was replying to a question from Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (PN-Langkawi).
