Flood Situation In Pahang, N.Sembilan Improving

20/02/2025 11:10 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Pahang and Negeri Sembilan is improving, with fewer evacuees remaining at temporary relief centres (PPS) tonight.

In PAHANG, state Civil Defence Force director Col (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said the number of evacuees has dropped to 49 from 12 families as of 8 pm, currently housed at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Lanchang PPS in Temerloh, which was opened earlier today.

“The floodwaters in Karak have receded and flowed into Sungai Semantan, causing it to overflow in Lanchang. As a result, residents near the riverbanks had to be relocated to the PPS,” he told Bernama.

He added that a PPS in Bentong, which previously accommodated 140 evacuees from 47 families, was closed this evening after all evacuees were allowed to return home.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the number of evacuees has dropped to 84 people from 27 families, compared to 101 people from 27 families this morning.

Jelebu District Civil Defence Officer Lt (PA) Mohd Najib Abdul Karim said all evacuees were from Ladang Jelebu, Taman Pekan Baru, Taman Bandar Tinggi and Kampung Sepri.

“The weather is clear and floodwaters have receded. Post-flood cleaning efforts are 95 per cent complete, and I expect all evacuees will be able to return home by tomorrow,” he said in a statement today.
