IPOH, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- The Agro MADANI Sales programme, organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) in Perak, recorded sales value of RM3.64 million last year.
FAMA said that 138 sales events were held across various locations, including government premises, residential areas, and high-traffic public spots, benefiting 84,478 visitors.
Offering discounts of up to 30 per cent on fresh produce and essential household items, the programme provides significant cost savings for consumers.
“This initiative aims to enhance food accessibility and affordability while ensuring stable prices for consumers,” it said in a statement.
“It also functions as a market price control mechanism during periods of agricultural surplus, supporting economic stability for farmers and local producers."
Meanwhile, FAMA held a sales event at the Perak State Secretariat (SUK) building today, officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
It offers a variety of products, including chicken, fish, meat, fruits, vegetables, controlled goods, and daily necessities, allowing office staff and local residents to purchase essential items at more affordable prices.
“FAMA estimates that sales at the SUK will reach RM60,000, and we plan to organise this programme monthly at the same location,” the statement said.
