Sarawak Takes Integrity Seriously As Pillar Of State's Future - Deputy Premier

06/03/2025 12:44 PM

KUCHING, March 6 (Bernama) -- Integrity is not just part of the national effort to build a corruption-free nation, it is a value that Sarawak takes very seriously, says Deputy Premier, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He said that without strong integrity values, everything that Sarawak has built over the years could collapse.

“In 2018, the people entrusted us with a RM5.8 billion budget, meant to be fully utilised for the state's development.

“Sarawak would become even more prosperous by 2030, with a budget exceeding RM20 billion. This means our younger generation must already be equipped with integrity so that the allocated funds are fully utilised for the benefit of the people,” he said during the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak’s  Integrity Day celebration, here today.

Meanwhile, DID Sarawak director Datuk Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi said the department has been recognised as one of the technical departments under Treasury Instruction 182, granting it the authority to administer the federal government’s development projects in the state with a value limit of up to RM50 million.

“DID Sarawak is committed to maintaining the recognition and ensuring that all our employees practice compliance with the stipulated standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure that all planned development projects can be implemented and completed within the given timeframe.

“The department also takes the issue of integrity in the implementation of development projects very seriously and will not compromise on any non-compliance or leakage in the implementation of projects,” he said.

Additionally, Ahmad Denney said that DID Sarawak has been certified by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd for implementing an Anti-Bribery Management System that complies with ISO 37001:2016 at its headquarters.
