KUCHING, March 6 (Bernama) – Certified Integrity Officers (CeIOs) are authorised to report any instances of abuse of power or disciplinary breaches within their departments to the Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (UNIONS).
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya emphasised the importance of CeIOs being vigilant in identifying violations related to corruption and misconduct.
"One should not assume that only the public can report these issues. CeIOs are the officers who understand the transparent procedures in their departments best," he said during his address at the Certified Integrity Officer Programme here today.
Juanda called on all state CeIOs to report any violations to the authorities and to actively participate in the fight against corruption among civil servants, as this commitment is essential for meeting the objectives of Sarawak’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
"Every CeIO must be courageous in investigating officers with disciplinary issues or those guilty of abusing their power.
“We need more input from CeIOs on such matters within departments, and we aim to ensure that every position in Sarawak is clean and transparent during audits," he added.
