MELAKA, March 8 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Melaka, which began on Thursday, is nearing full recovery with only nine evacuees from three families still seeking shelter as of 8 am today, down from 32 individuals from 11 families recorded at 8 pm last night.
Melaka Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Kamarulsyah Muslim said all remaining evacuees are housed at the temporary relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Parit Penghulu, Sungai Rambai in Jasin.
Another relief centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato' Abdul Rahman Ya'kub in Merlimau, which accommodated 25 people from eight families, was officially closed at 10.40 pm yesterday," he said in a statement today.
Earlier, two districts in the state — Melaka Tengah and Jasin, were reported to have been affected by floods following continuous heavy rain from 11 pm on Wednesday, inundating approximately 37 areas.
