KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- Several ministers and deputy ministers took to Facebook to extend their greetings in celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, observed worldwide today.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said today’s celebration honours the resilience, courage, and extraordinary contributions of women in everyone’s lives.
“May they continue to be blessed with the strength to pursue their dreams, move forward with confidence, and be appreciated for every sacrifice and achievement.
“To my beloved mother and wife...thank you for your priceless love. Keep inspiring. Happy Women’s Day!” he said.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said International Women’s Day is a reminder for everyone to recognise and celebrate the pivotal role of women worldwide, whose strength and potential drive positive change in society.
“Today also reminds us to continue striving and working towards empowering women’s roles and rights in our efforts to build a fairer and more balanced world.
“On this meaningful occasion, I wish everyone a Happy International Women’s Day 2025 under the theme ‘Wanita Beraspirasi Membina Legasi’,” she said.
Meanwhile, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said this year’s theme is highly relevant in recognising the role of women in national development.
“Women today are catalysts for change and drivers of progress.
“History has proven that women play a major role in nation-building. From leadership figures, educators, economists, human rights advocates, to frontliners across various sectors, women have demonstrated resilience, courage, and wisdom in facing numerous challenges. Happy Women’s Day to all women in the country!” he said.
Among those who also extended International Women’s Day 2025 greetings were Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching and Deputy National Unity Minister Saraswathy Kandasami.
In a post, Teo urged all parties to work together in creating a fairer space for women to ensure they can thrive and contribute to the nation without barriers.
“For example, in leadership and politics at the parliamentary level, we currently have only 13.5 per cent female MPs and 16.1 per cent women in the MADANI Government Cabinet. This highlights the need to encourage more women to participate in policymaking and national administration.
“With the support and commitment of all, we can achieve true gender equality and build a brighter future for everyone,” she said.
Meanwhile, Saraswathy expressed hope that International Women’s Day 2025 would inspire all women to continue progressing with confidence, courage, and determination while serving as a source of inspiration for future generations.
