Singapore Delegation Visits Bernama To Boost Media Ties

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- A 28-member Singapore government delegation today paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) here, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of media and communication.

The delegation, led by Singapore government communications head Foo Kok Jwee, was received by Bernama deputy editor-in-chief of Economic News Service Azlina Aziz along with other senior officials of the national news agency.

During the visit, Bernama also held a discussion with the delegation under Singapore's Third Advanced Communication and Engagement (ACE) programme to explain its role as the national news agency and to explore strategic cooperation opportunities.

This included an exchange of information on Bernama's coverage during the 46th ASEAN Summit on May 26 and 27, held in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship this year.

Bernama executive editor of News Service Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa, deputy executive editor of International News Service Massita Ahmad and deputy executive editor of Economic News Service Nor Baizura Basri also attended the discussion.

Also present were Bernama’s senior manager of Media Relations and Event Management Zaria Mohd Nasri, editor of MyCheck Malaysia and the Data Journalism Unit Sakina Mohamed, Digital Media editor Noor Soraya Mohammad Jamal and Bernama Radio news manager Mohd Hirzee Mohamad.

In her speech, Azlina welcomed the visit and reaffirmed Bernama’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation networks, particularly with media and diplomatic entities from neighbouring countries.

The delegation was later taken on a tour of the Editorial Department, Bernama TV, Digital Media Division and Bernama Radio, where they were briefed on Bernama’s daily operations as a news provider for various local and international agencies and media.
