Boustead Plantations MD Awarded Hon. Colonel Commission Of Territorial Army

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Boustead Plantations Bhd's Managing Director, Datuk Zulkarnain Md Eusope, was awarded the Honorary Colonel Commission of the Territorial Army today.

The Malaysian Army stated in a release that the award was presented by the Chief of Army, Gen Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, at the Senior Volunteer Officer and Honorary Commission Officer of the Territorial Army Rank Conferment Ceremony in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

According to the statement, Zulkarnain was also appointed as an Attending Member of the Territorial Army Supporting Committee (JAKPAW) under the Ministry of Defence.

The ceremony also saw the conferment of the rank of Lt Col Volunteer Officer of the Territorial Army to Maj Wan Rizaila Wan Mamat Saufi, Head of the Training Branch, Reserve Officer Training Unit at the International Islamic University Malaysia (UIAM), who was also appointed as the Deputy Commandant of the unit.

Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin @ Sapilin Samitah was awarded the Honorary Lt Col Commission and appointed as the Deputy Chairman of JAKPAW Sabah.

The Army also stated that the Director of Land and Survey Sabah, Prof Datuk Sr Bernard Liew Chau Min, and the Deputy State Secretary (Development) Sabah, Datuk Dr Ahemad Sade, were awarded the Honorary Major Commission and appointed as Members of the state's JAKPAW.

Chye Chang Kheng, Manager of Eng Hin Giap Hardware Sdn Bhd, was awarded the Honorary Major Commission and appointed as an Attending Member of Kedah State JAKPAW.

According to the statement, Muhammad Hafizuddeain, in his speech, stressed the importance of the Whole of Government, Whole of Society (WoGoS) approach, as outlined in the Defence White Paper and National Military Strategy 2.0, to ensure that national security becomes a shared responsibility of all levels of society.

"The presence of senior volunteer and honorary officers in the Army's structure clearly reflects the true implementation of this principle, which is to strengthen national defence through an inclusive and comprehensive approach," he said.
