Kelantan Extends Appreciation To Federal Govt Over RM6.6 Million Allocation For Slope Repair In Tanah Merah

01/07/2025 11:08 AM

KOTA BHARU, July 1 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan government has extended its appreciation to the federal government for approving an allocation of RM6.6 million to repair the collapsed slope near the Bukit Remah Water Treatment Plant (LRA) in Tanah Merah.

Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said the incident occurred on November 26 last year following heavy rain, causing a 130-metre-long ground movement and severely damaging the sheetpile structure at the plant.

He said the collapse also affected essential infrastructure, including raw and treated water pipelines, posing a threat to critical facilities such as chlorine rooms, chemical tanks, and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) sub-stations.

“The Kelantan government once again demonstrated its commitment to the people’s welfare by promptly applying to the federal government to address the slope collapse incident at Bukit Remah LRA, Tanah Merah.

“The state government also approved an allocation of RM235,000 for the  Public Works Department (JKR) to conduct two studies, namely a Land Investigation Study and a Detailed Survey Study at the LRA site,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Mohd Nassuruddin said the initiative received encouraging support when the federal government approved an allocation of more than RM6.6 million for the slope repair works.

“The Kelantan government extends its deepest appreciation for this approval, which holds great significance for the people and will help ensure that the issue can be addressed promptly.

“The voices and concerns of the people will continue to be championed in the spirit of a mature, harmonious political culture — reflecting the strong spirit of federalism and cooperation between the state and federal governments for the benefit of the rakyat,” he said.
