Formation Of MADANI Ummah Must Be Built On Faith And Knowledge - Raja Of Perlis

ARAU, July 3 (Bernama) -- The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail has called for the formation of a smart MADANI ummah that is driven by faith, knowledge, and a responsible way of life.

To achieve this, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin stated that efforts to strengthen the contemporary Muslim community must not be rhetorical but instead require collective and continuous action involving the family and educational institutions, as well as community leadership.

“Let us move forward together towards a more MADANI Perlis, a small state with a big heart that serves as a model for upholding the universal principles of Islam,” he said when officiating the state-level Maal Hijrah celebration for 1447 Hijrah at the Perlis Correctional Centre, here today.

In attendance were the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Also present was the Menteri Besar of Perlis Mohd Shukri Ramli.

The Raja of Perlis said MADANI principles such as sustainability, well-being, innovation, respect, confidence, and compassion are not only slogans but must be embraced as a way of life and translated into daily action.

At the same time, he expressed his appreciation for the efforts of all parties who have worked hand in hand to guide, rehabilitate, and empower individuals at the correctional facility.

He said inmates at the correctional facility are also part of the ummah and deserve the opportunity to change and contribute once again to society.

“The Maal Hijrah celebration today symbolises hope and a new light. Every person can change and deserves to be valued,” he said.

At the ceremony, the director of Tok Guru Dato’ Bentara Setia Thought Institute (IPTG) and former Perlis Fatwa committee member, Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Johari Mat was named Perlis Maal Hijrah Personality for 1447 Hijrah, in recognition of his significant contributions in the field of Islamic thought and scholarship at the national level.
