KOTA BHARU, July 3 (Bernama) -- Kelantan’s electric bus service, Bas. My Kota Bharu is set to operate next month.
Konsortium E-Mutiara Berhad (E-Mutiara) chairman Che Ibrahim Che Ismail said the bus service, which was scheduled to start on Tuesday, had to be postponed due to technical issues.
“The initial plan was for the bus service to begin on Tuesday, but we needed to resolve several technical issues before the service could be fully operational next month.
“The five buses currently in operation are running on the Kota Bharu-Meranti-Kota Bharu route and are powered by diesel engines, not electric buses as reported by some news portals,” he told reporters after the Bubur As-Syura programme here today.
He said the Bas. My Kota Bharu service will ply four routes: Kota Bharu-Sultan Ismail Petra Airport-Sabak; Kota Bharu-Panchor-Kemumin-Sabak; Kota Bharu-Pengkalan Chepa; and Kota Bharu-Pantai Cahaya Bulan.
Regarding the mandatory seatbelt rule on buses, which took effect on July 1, Che Ibrahim said the consortium welcomes the move, stating that it is a positive measure to help prevent any untoward incidents.
