KOTA KINABALU, July 29 (Bernama) -- Veteran media practitioner Abd Naddin Shaiddin, a former senior journalist with Utusan Borneo, received assistance from the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA today.
Abd Naddin, 57, who served with Utusan Borneo from 1994 to 2021, suffered a minor stroke in October 2023 and is currently undergoing treatment and recovery.
He is the 464th beneficiary of the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA nationwide and the 24th in Sabah. The contribution was presented by Bernama Sabah Bureau chief Fadzli Ramli at the Bernama Sabah Bureau Office here.
Hailing from Kota Belud, Abd Naddin expressed his gratitude for the aid, which he said would help cover his medical costs, including acupuncture sessions and support his family’s expenses.
“I had a minor stroke that affected my grip, speech and cognitive abilities. Alhamdulillah, after undergoing several treatments, I am nearly fully recovered,” he said.
Abd Naddin also expressed hope that more media practitioners, both active and retired, who are going through difficult times, will receive similar support.
The Tabung Kasih@HAWANA initiative reflects the spirit of Malaysia MADANI by upholding values of compassion and care, particularly for media practitioners who have contributed to society but are now facing life or health challenges.
Launched in conjunction with National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2023, the initiative is spearheaded by the Communications Ministry and implemented by Bernama.
