18/08/2025 08:22 PM

JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Johor became the first state to set up a special anti-bullying committee at its Anti-Bullying Campaign Coordination Meeting today, state Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin said.

The meeting, attended by various agencies and departments, was aimed at outlining strategies and setting up a comprehensive action plan to be implemented through campaigns and intervention programmes in all educational institutions, especially schools, in phases.

“We hope this step will create awareness and educate students as well as involve the entire education ecosystem, including teachers, parents and the community,” he posted on Facebook today.

Johor, being the first state to set up this special committee, proves its commitment towards ensuring the safety of Johor children and that schools are safe places for learning, he added.

Aznan also pointed out that bullying was not a small problem, but acts that use power or violence to intimidate, humiliate, harass or hurt other people physically, mentally or emotionally and could inflict severe trauma in victims.
