KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Ikatan Setiakawan Wartawan Malaysia-Indonesia (ISWAMI) Malaysia has congratulated Akhmad Munir on his election as chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) for the 2025-2030 term, and Atal S. Depari as chairman of PWI Central Honorary Council.

ISWAMI Malaysia acting president Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman expressed confidence that Akhmad’s leadership would further strengthen unity and solidarity among PWI members.

“ISWAMI Malaysia hopes that media relations between Malaysia and Indonesia will continue to be enhanced in our efforts to foster greater mutual understanding, as well as to build stronger narratives in addressing current and shared issues between both nations,” he said in a statement today.

He said the leadership of PWI under Akhmad, who is also the president director of Indonesia’s ANTARA News Agency, and Atal, is expected to elevate the role of journalism not only in Indonesia, but also at the regional and international levels.

ISWAMI Malaysia, he added, was committed to working with PWI to strengthen the dissemination of accurate news and information as well as foster better understanding between Malaysians and Indonesians on various current issues.

“Media understanding between the two countries not only brings people closer together but also contributes to strengthening strategic cooperation between the governments of Malaysia and Indonesia.
