17/09/2025 06:08 PM

KUCHING, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak government is encouraging students from both public and private higher education institutions (IPTA and IPTS) in the state to fully utilise the various educational initiatives introduced by the state.

Chief political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman urged students to explore the opportunities provided by the government and apply for the relevant assistance.

“We are informing students at IPTA and IPTS about the initiatives being implemented and the opportunities available for them to benefit from,” he told reporters after attending a briefing on the state’s education initiatives at Swinburne University here today.

Earlier, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced that starting next year, the state government is expected to cover over RM400 million in costs for the free higher education initiatives.

Despite the high costs, Abang Johari reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the initiative, which is aimed at securing the future of Sarawak’s youth, particularly those in the five state-owned higher education institutions.
