Motorists Commuting To Work Glad That BUDI95 Provides Savings On Fuel Costs

30/09/2025 02:28 PM

BUTTERWORTH, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- The implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95)  programme, which sets petrol price at RM1.99 per litre with a 300-litre per month eligibility limit, has clearly brought relief to motorists who commute daily.

A Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) staff, 55-year-old Zuhda Zakaria, said BUDI 95 helps ease her monthly expenditure as the petrol subsidy is channelled directly to users.

"I purchased RM50 worth of petrol, but the terminal at the kiosk showed RM65.33. So, the subsidy given by the government is RM15.33. This is excellent and beneficial, as I commute daily from Sungai Dua to the island.

"What the government is doing is very good. The 300 litres is definitely sufficient. Even if I use more than that, it's okay. I'll just pay the difference because what's been given (the petrol subsidy) is sufficient,” she said when met by Bernama at a petrol station in Sungai Dua here today.

Zuhda also said that she did not face any problems paying in cash.

Meanwhile, 42-year-old Muhammad Hafifi Don said BUDI95 provided significant savings, as he usually fills his tank with RM50 worth of petrol, and it would last him a week, but the petrol subsidy means he will enjoy savings on his fuel costs.

"I use my car to commute to work in Tasek Gelugor daily to teach new converts (mualaf), and I usually fill up my tank with RM50 worth of petrol, which lasts me a week. Now that the petrol price is cheaper, perhaps I can save more on my fuel costs despite paying the same amount.

"As such, I see the government's move in introducing BUDI95 as being beneficial to the public, especially those in the lower income group, as it somewhat helps reduce their burden,” he said.

From midnight, 16 million Malaysians began enjoying benefits under the BUDI95 initiative.

The initiative sets the price of RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre, down from RM2.05, with each individual eligible for up to 300 litres a month.

BUDI95 was rolled out in phases, starting with 300,000 military and police personnel on Sept 27, before being expanded to Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients under the B40 category on Sunday.

BUDI95 offers a simple transaction process, requiring only a valid MyKad or driving licence for automatic eligibility verification, while payments can be made via cash, credit or debit card or e-wallet.
