Different Segments Of Society Benefit From BUDI95 Initiative

IPOH, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- From workers in the private sector to young entrepreneurs and students, many are benefiting from reduced fuel costs through the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative.

Private sector worker K. Gunasekaran, 54, said he would usually set aside about RM600 a month for RON95 petrol when the price was RM2.05 per litre.

“With RM600, I could get about 292.68 litres a month, but at RM1.99 per litre, I only need to spend around RM582.43 for the same amount,” he said when met by Bernama here.

The retail price of non-subsidised RON95 petrol has been set at RM2.60 per litre for the period from Sept 30 to Oct 8.

Young entrepreneur Ong Jun Di, 25, said he allocates about RM480 a month for petrol and that the implementation of BUDI95 has enabled him to save for household expenses and future needs.

Meanwhile, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) nursing student Nurshami Abdul Rahim, 20, said the implementation of BUDI95 has helped students who rely on motorcycles or cars to get to college and carry out daily activities.

“For students like us, BUDI95 has provided some relief, as we mostly rely on loans or scholarships to continue our studies and cover living expenses,” he said.

The rollout of the BUDI95 initiative began last Saturday with 300,000 military and police personnel, before being extended on Sunday to five million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) aid recipients, and yesterday to 16 million eligible Malaysians.
