Search, XPDC To Rock Sarawak Stadium On Dec 13

KUCHING, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Fans of local rock music in Borneo are set to be thrilled by Konsert Fenomena Samurai, which will bring together two legendary bands, Search and XPDC, on Dec 13 at the Sarawak Stadium here.

Show organiser Ikhram Zainuddin, or better known as Atom, said the event, which is scheduled to last for four hours, will provide an extraordinary experience for rock music fans, especially in Sarawak.

“This concert will feature members of XPDC as well as a former Search vocalist who will be announced soon.

"Although some of them are currently not too well, we pray that they will all recover and be able to give their best performance on stage," he said at a press conference here today.

Also present was Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is also State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister.

Atom said the concert also promises special segments that will bring the two groups together on the same stage, including the possibility of a 'battle' performance.

Besides the main performance, he said various interactive activities were also provided through the organiser's official social media platforms, including quizzes, with free tickets to win. Two exclusive Fender guitars will also be given to lucky fans in Sarawak as a token of appreciation.

"To give more fans the opportunity, both groups will be in Sarawak for a week starting today to promote the concert and extend the early bird ticket promotion period with reasonable prices," he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Karim said the state government welcomed the organisers' efforts to bring the country's legendary rock bands to the Land of the Hornbills, while also providing an opportunity for veteran artistes to continue performing and opening doors for new talent in the performing arts.

"Concerts like this are also able to attract visitors to Sarawak from Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore and Sabah among others, thus having a positive impact on the tourism industry through hotel bookings, food, transportation, and other support services," he also said.

The Konsert Fenomena Samurai will feature XPDC with a line-up comprising Izo, Lola, Eddie, Arif and Mamu, while Search will perform with Din and Kid.
