PUTRAJAYA, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- MIMOS Bhd today unveiled more than 25 newly developed technologies at the MIMOS Technology Preview (MTP) 2025, demonstrating Malaysia’s ability to move beyond ideas and deliver tangible solutions to real-world challenges.
Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohammad Yusof Apdal said the technologies introduced included semiconductors and advanced electronics that will strengthen Malaysia’s position in the global supply chain.
Also unveiled were innovations in artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and quantum technologies designed to future-proof the nation’s digital economy, in addition to cybersecurity solutions to safeguard Malaysia’s sovereignty in an increasingly interconnected world.
“Each of these innovations reflects not only technical excellence but also a commitment to addressing the real challenges faced by businesses and society,” he said in his speech when officiating MTP 2025 here today.
Also present were Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) president Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen, MIMOS president and group chief executive officer Dr Saat Shukri Embong, and MIMOS chairperson Dr Jasmine Begum.
Mohammad Yusof said the technologies showcased at MTP 2025 are not merely inventions but investments in the country’s future.
“They align directly with Malaysia’s national priorities: the National Semiconductor Strategy, the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP), the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), and the current as well as forthcoming Malaysia Plans.
“Together, these frameworks express Malaysia’s bold ambition to rise as a globally competitive Digital Nation, one that empowers homegrown talent, scales up local innovations, and ensures that Malaysian solutions leave their mark on the world stage,” he said.
He said the unveiling of technologies developed by Malaysians underscores the nation’s capability to lead in areas of strategic importance.
“MTP 2025 is the meeting ground where these connections are forged, where sparks of collaboration ignite lasting change.
“Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is proud to stand alongside MIMOS in this mission. Through policies, roadmaps, and funding mechanisms, we are building an ecosystem where innovators and entrepreneurs can thrive, and where research can be swiftly translated into real-world impact.”
He also called on innovators, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers to seize the opportunities presented at MTP 2025.
“Do not let these innovations remain as ideas on paper or prototypes in the lab. Connect with MIMOS, collaborate, co-create and bring these technologies to the marketplace,” he said.
Meanwhile, Saat Shukri said this year’s edition of MTP marks a new chapter for MIMOS, with the unveiling of more than 25 technologies spanning semiconductors, advanced electronics, artificial intelligence, quantum intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity, as well as green and decarbonisation solutions.
“These innovations are not just products of science; they are tools to help Malaysia achieve its aspirations under the 12th and 13th Malaysia Plans (12MP and 13MP), the National Semiconductor Strategy, the New Industrial Master Plan, and the National Energy Transition Roadmap. MTP 2025 is not merely a showcase - it is a statement of capability,” he said.
In the meantime, Jasmine also reaffirmed MIMOS’ commitment to advancing national goals through science, technology and innovation (STI).
At MTP 2025, Mohammad Yusof also witnessed the appointment of MIMOS Industry Advocacy Group (IAG) Fellows and several document exchange ceremonies formalising collaborations with key partners.
