KUANTAN, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The Pahang state government will hold a Sumud Flotilla Gathering tomorrow (Oct 3) at the parking compound of Sultan Ahmad 1 State Mosque in Kuantan, after Friday prayers.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, in a Facebook post, said the people of Pahang had always stood firmly with the Palestinians in their struggle for freedom and dignity, while supporting all humanitarian efforts for lasting peace in Palestine.
“On behalf of the Pahang government, I express full solidarity with all volunteers who have been detained. The state government also prays for their safety, protection from harm, and immediate release,” he said.
At the same time, he said the state was also aligned with the federal government in urging the Israeli regime to release the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteers unconditionally.
“These volunteers carry the spirit of courage and sincerity in delivering aid to the Palestinian people who have long been oppressed,” he added.
Meanwhile, in MELAKA, the state Mufti Department has called on all mosque and surau congregations to recite the Qunut Nazilah supplication in the final rakaat of every Friday and obligatory prayer starting tomorrow.
Melaka Mufti Datuk Abdul Halim Tawil said the prayers were to seek safety, protection and release of the GSF volunteers, particularly Malaysians involved, while also praying for the wellbeing of the Palestinian people.
“The (state) government and the people of Melaka condemn the harassment of the GSF convoy on its humanitarian mission to Gaza.
“Let us all pray together for this humanitarian mission to be eased, for the volunteers to be protected and granted strength and good health. May this noble effort receive Allah’s blessings and help,” he said in a statement here today.
As of 1 pm today, the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) confirmed that 12 Malaysians had been detained after their vessel entered the R3 red zone, about 100 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, while another five were reported to have lost contact with SNCC.
