Malaysia’s Stance On Trump’s Peace Plan Among Focus Of Parliament Sitting

07/10/2025 08:35 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s stance on the peace plan proposed by United States President Donald Trump concerning the Palestine-Israel conflict will be among the main highlights at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament portal, the question will be raised during the Minister’s Question Time by Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN–Paya Besar) to the Prime Minister.

He also seeks to know the extent to which the plan aligns with Malaysia’s principles and efforts in championing the rights of the Palestinian people and the sovereignty of the state.

In the same session, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN–Masjid Tanah) will ask the Prime Minister about the government’s preparedness in ensuring the success of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026), particularly in terms of international promotion and the involvement of state governments.

The MP will also question whether the expenditures made are based on the ‘value for money’ principle and if the government plans to hold a major launch on Dec 31, 2025, as practised previously.

During the Question and Answer session, Mordi Bimol (PH–Mas Gading) will ask the Transport Minister about comprehensive actions following the Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) safety audit involving commercial vehicle operators.

He seeks details on the plans and audit schedule for approximately 300,000 companies, the number already audited, and the digitalisation plan for the safety audit process to speed up the detection of non-compliance and reduce bureaucracy.

Meanwhile, Datuk Sri Doris Sophia Brodi (GPS–Sri Aman) will ask the Home Minister to state the factors behind enforcement weaknesses that have caused Malaysia to be seen as a preferred destination for international scammer syndicates, including the recent case involving over 400 individuals detained in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.

Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang) will ask the Health Minister whether the ministry is ready to reintroduce nicotine into the list of controlled substances under the Poisons Act, following its presence in vape products.

After the Q&A session, the Dewan Rakyat sitting will continue with the first reading of the Supply Bill 2026 and the Private Agency (Amendment) Bill 2025.

The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament runs for 35 days until Dec 4.
