International Durian Festival 2025 To Spotlight Perak’s King Of Fruits

IPOH, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- The Festival Durian Antarabangsa Kampung Gajah 2025 (KGIDF2025) will run from Oct 15 to Nov 30, spotlighting Perak’s renowned Kampung Gajah durians on the global stage.

The event, to be held at the iGROW Heritage Village Complex and several locations across Kampung Gajah in Perak Tengah, is jointly organised by the Perak Tengah Community Development Association and the iGROW (Agro Entrepreneur Institute).

Association chairman and iGROW executive chairman Nordin Abdul Malek described the festival as a significant event that unites the community, businesses, learning institutions and media to promote Kampung Gajah durians as a world-class agrotourism attraction.

“This is more than a fruit fair, it’s a platform to strengthen the local economy through agrotourism, heritage and modern agricultural entrepreneurship,” he said in a statement today.

The opening ceremony is expected to be officiated by Raja Di Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

A special delegation from Thailand, including the Governor of Pattani and representatives from the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC), will also attend.

The month-long festival will feature interactive and educational programmes involving school and university students, as well as international participants.

Nordin said youth engagement is key to fostering interest in modern farming and positioning Kampung Gajah as a leading agrotourism destination in the region.

KGIDF2025 is expected to become an annual attraction, drawing local and international visitors while generating economic benefits for the Perak Tengah community.

The event will also feature the launch of Randau Demi Negara, a book by Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib.
