SHAH ALAM, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The Communications Ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is finalising the process of channelling RM50 million for the establishment of the Postal Service Fund.
Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that in line with Malaysia’s commitment as a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the fund, to be managed by Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia), aims to ensure the sustainability and continuity of postal services nationwide, particularly in rural areas.
He said the Postal Service Fund is a strategic initiative to support the transformation of the postal sector to remain relevant, sustainable and competitive in the era of communication and e-commerce.
“Under the Universal Service Obligation framework, the fund will be channelled and integrated with courier services to strengthen Pos Malaysia’s core operations as it faces challenges over the next 50, 70 or even 100 years.
“We believe this initiative will further support Pos Malaysia’s ongoing commitment and efforts in transforming the industry and their services,” he told a press conference after launching Redly Pos Malaysia International in conjunction with World Post Day 2025 at the National Mail Centre here today.
