PENDANG, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Entrepreneurs under the guidance of the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) recorded total sales worth RM160 million from Jan 1 to Sept 30 this year, said MADA chairman Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh.
He said the sales value was achieved through various MADA-implemented programmes such as the Young Agropreneur Programme, Agrotourism Programme, Product Development and Branding (2P), Human Capital Programme, as well as the Processing, Packaging and Marketing Centre (3P).
“In efforts to strengthen entrepreneurship development in the Muda area, MADA remains committed to implementing various entrepreneur development programmes focusing on capacity building, skills enhancement and competitiveness among its entrepreneurs.
“Various initiatives are implemented through allocations from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), including entrepreneur development grants, generic and technical training courses, business mentoring, market access and financing facilities,” he said when officiating the MADA Food Industry Hub Carnival here today.
He added that MADA’s continuous efforts had benefitted more than 2,419 entrepreneurs across various sectors.
“MADA’s success in guiding its entrepreneurs was proven at the Top 20 Agrotourism Centre Awards Ceremony under KPKM 2025, held yesterday. Three MADA agrotourism entrepreneurs, namely from Tamteh Multicentre, Anjung Kuala and Nipah Klasik, achieved annual sales exceeding RM1 million.
“MADA also organised the three-day MADA Food Industry Hub Carnival, which runs until this Saturday, as part of its efforts to empower entrepreneurs in the Muda area,” he said.
Dr Ismail said that during the event, 20 grants were presented under the Young Agropreneur Programme Phase 3/2025, along with awards to two entrepreneurs under the High-Impact Product Entrepreneur Award for the SME Category 1/2 Year 2025.
“The presentation of these grants proves that KPKM, through MADA, continues to encourage the development of more entrepreneurs. MADA also believes that the implementation of entrepreneur development programmes will remain a key driver in increasing income among target groups, strengthening food security and contributing to sustainable national economic growth,” he said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Danial Haikal Husmizar, 21, from Arau, Perlis, who received a RM30,000 Young Agropreneur Grant for his goat-rearing project that he started in 2021, said he had not expected to be selected.
“I applied for the grant online. The process is faster if all the required documents are submitted properly. This grant will help me in various aspects, including sales and improving the goat pen. MADA has really helped my business,” he said.
