KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The Aspire Academy Global Summit 2025 made its historic United States (US) debut at Subaru Park, gathering global football leaders, coaches, and legends for two days of high-level dialogue and innovation in player and coach development.
Hosted in partnership with Philadelphia Union and Major League Soccer (MLS), this 11th edition marked a significant milestone in the evolution of the “Aspire in the World Fellows” initiative, now connecting over 50 top clubs, leagues, and federations worldwide, according to a statement.
Star speakers included former England National Team Manager Sir Gareth Southgate, who emphasised coach development as the bedrock of football’s future, and former Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez, who led a masterclass on tactical evolution and performance management.
MLS Coach of the Year 2024 Wilfried Nancy and Italian legend and FIFA World Cup winner Alessandro Nesta shared powerful insights on balancing structure, resilience, and psychology in today’s coaching landscape.
Two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Carli Lloyd headlined a session on elite performance in women’s football, underlining the growing prominence and professionalisation of the women’s game. Her mantra: “Preparation is everything.”
A unique cross-sport dialogue came from NFL legend Ron Jaworski, who emphasised leadership as the universal constant across sports, regardless of system or technology.
Meanwhile, MLS Commissioner Don Garber summed up the spirit of the summit: “Events like the Aspire Academy Global Summit connect ideas, people and purpose.”
Workshops and roundtables explored emerging trends in sports technology, athlete recovery, calendar management, and innovation from clubs such as Juventus, AC Milan, and MLS. Aspire Academy also unveiled Blind/Off, its new real-time e-gym feedback system soon to launch on mobile.
Closing the event, Aspire Academy Director of Football Performance and Science, Valter Di Salvo announced the academy’s first-ever Workshop Tour in Europe, debuting in Bucharest, Romania, next year, with the 12th Global Summit already in the works.
