CTPR Masterclass Marks 10th Anniversary, Launches Second 2025 Cohort

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The Multimedia University (MMU), in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the GSM Association (GSMA), today launched the second cohort of the 2025 Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) Masterclass, marking the programme’s 10th anniversary.

The CTPR Masterclass, established in 2015, has since empowered over 300 professionals from regulatory bodies and ministries across the region, advancing leadership capacity and policy innovation in the telecommunications and digital ecosystem.

MMU, MCMC and GSMA in a statement today said the initiative serves as a regional leadership training platform, nurturing visionary and adaptive leaders who can shape policies and strategies in an increasingly converged digital environment.

MMU President and Chief Executive Officer Prof Datuk Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud said the masterclass has become a dynamic platform for leadership and collaboration.

“The CTPR Masterclass unites ideas, expertise, and aspirations to shape the future of telecommunications governance. As we move into the next decade, our mission remains to nurture agile and visionary leaders for the digital era,” he said. 

MCMC in the statement emphasised the need for continuous leadership development among regulators to stay ahead of rapid digital transformation.

It said strengthening leadership capabilities is vital to crafting forward-looking policies that foster innovation, uphold public trust and ensure a sustainable, inclusive digital future.

Meanwhile, GSMA Head of Asia Pacific, Capacity Building, Niall Magennis said the masterclass has become a cornerstone of leadership development in the Asia-Pacific region for over ten years, empowering professionals to craft forwardlooking policies and advance inclusive digital growth.

The five-day masterclass brought together policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders from across ASEAN and beyond, under the theme “Intelligent Connectivity: Shaping the Future of 5G, AI, Security, and Sustainability.”

Among the international participants for this cohort are delegates from the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) and the Communications Regulatory Commission of Mongolia, reflecting the programme’s growing global significance as a leadership and knowledge exchange platform.

“As the CTPR Masterclass enters its next decade, MMU, MCMC, and GSMA reaffirm their commitment to fostering telecommunications leadership, strengthening regional cooperation, and advancing a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient digital future,” said the statement.
