12/10/2025 09:07 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Hock Kee Kopitiam has brought its renowned Malaysian heritage cuisine to Bukit Bintang with the launch of its 13th outlet today.

To mark the opening, the modern kopitiam has launched several new specialty dishes, such as Hock Kee Prawn Noodle Soup, Cheesy Prawn Bee Hoon, Braised Oyster Noodles, Signature Hor Fun Soup, and the rare-in-KL Red Sauce Wantan Noodles.

The founder, Nick Ng, said the new outlet not only signifies the brand's successful expansion but also stands as a symbol of Hock Kee's dedication to bringing authentic Malaysian flavours to the world.

"We chose Bukit Bintang so that international tourists can easily enjoy authentic Malaysian delicacies in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's busiest shopping and tourist hub," he said during a press conference at the opening.

Ng also revealed that Hock Kee Kopitiam has plans to open more branches in other states and is even looking at international expansion.

The launch was made more vibrant by the presence of singer and actress Bella Astillah, who is a fan and regular customer of Hock Kee Kopitiam.

Ng said his mission, anchored in a 'Spirit of Malaysia', forms the core of the brand, which is based on goodwill, harmony, mutual respect and togetherness among diverse races, beliefs, and cultures.

He explained that the kopitiam concept reflects Malaysia's unique way of life, which celebrates unity through shared experiences, especially over food.

"The menu offers a wide variety to cater to all communities and dietary preferences, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, can enjoy the food we serve," he said.

Since its establishment in Johor Bahru in 2018, Hock Kee Kopitiam has seen rapid growth. Key milestones include the opening of its first Klang Valley outlet in Bangsar South in 2023 and the acquisition of its halal certification last year.

Meanwhile, Bella, whose real name is Dayang Ara Nabellah Awang Astillah, shared that she loves bringing her children to Hock Kee Kopitiam because of its extensive menu.

She has a particular fondness for their egg tarts, which are a childhood favourite.

"They serve my favourites, from nasi lemak to spicier dishes. My children love it too. I hope they open more branches across Malaysia," she said.

Designed to handle a high volume of customers, the new Bukit Bintang branch features dedicated self-ordering kiosks and a special takeaway counter.

There is also a separate counter for egg tarts, with flavours such as Classic, Matcha, Durian, Taro, and Potato Curry.
