Over 3,000 Premises Nationwide Still Offering Menu Rahmah - Fuziah

SANDAKAN, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The Menu Rahmah initiative, launched in 2023, continues to thrive today with over 3,000 premises nationwide still offering the affordable meal option.

Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said, for instance, the Mydin supermarket here continues to serve Menu Rahmah meals priced at RM4.90 daily.

"Its menu also varies from Monday to Sunday. Earlier, I noticed that today's menu of rice, soy sauce fish, stir-fried cabbage and a drink came to a total of RM4.90. So, this Menu Rahmah is a balanced meal, as it has protein, carbohydrates and vegetables.

"Alhamdulillah, it has been ongoing for over two years because the purpose behind offering this menu is to share blessings and help those in need. I want to thank our strategic partners, such as Mydin, who continue to support the Menu Rahmah programme," she told reporters after visiting the Mydin supermarket here today.

She added that the ministry continues to support registered Menu Rahmah operators, including via the Menu Rahmah discount card.

"The special Menu Rahmah discount card allows them to buy items at special prices at outlets such as Mydin. The card can also be used during 'Jualan Rahmah' (Rahmah sales).

"There is no purchase limit when using the discount card. For instance, during Rahmah sales, there might be a limit of two chickens per person. However, with the discount card, individuals can make more purchases. The Menu Rahmah discount card is an initiative from the government to support those providing Menu Rahmah meals," she said.

Fuziah urged food operators who are interested in offering Menu Rahmah to register with KPDN.

Meanwhile, on her working visit to Sandakan, she checked the availability of essential goods to ensure a sufficient supply ahead of the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17).

"This morning, I visited two supermarkets, Savemore and MU Superstore, to check on the availability of essential goods, especially during the election period when many people from different areas may be gathering across the state. We want to ensure there are no complaints about shortages of sugar, cooking oil and other essentials," she said.

She added that the checks found supplies, including sugar and cooking oil, to be sufficient.
