KUANTAN, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, today graced the launch of the Pahang Recreation Council (MRP) at Dataran Orang Kaya Haji in Kuala Lipis.
In a post on the Pahang Royal Family’s Facebook page, Al-Sultan Abdullah said the establishment of MRP not only served to promote, develop and preserve the state’s natural treasures, but also acted as the eyes and ears of the authorities to ensure their protection for future generations.
“I have long followed the activities of these recreation enthusiasts who have been very active for more than 10 years. It is now time for their knowledge and experience to be shared while enhancing the facilities and tourism products for recreational sports in Pahang,” he said.
According to the post, Al-Sultan Abdullah was received upon arrival by Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal.
His Royal Highness also expressed hope that the formation of MRP would help nurture greater awareness among Pahang’s youth on the importance of protecting the environment.
“Wider awareness about the importance of our natural heritage is crucial, as it represents a legacy and a trust — my trust, the government’s trust — to be handed down to our young people, especially my own children,” he said.
