14/10/2025 09:50 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (YWM) today handed over a Letter of Intent (LoI) to seven industry partners as part of efforts to strengthen the national waqf ecosystem.

YWM, in a statement, said the collaboration is expected to open new dimensions in high-impact waqf management, covering health, education, social, and digital technology sectors.

“This strategic collaboration aims to expand the implementation of waqf projects holistically and sustainably, in line with the Al-Falah Transformation Plan and the Malaysia MADANI principles, which emphasise well-being and compassion in society.

“The partnership will pave the way for various waqf-based social innovations that can benefit people of all races and religions,” the statement read.

The seven industry partners are Highfield Healthcare Sdn Bhd, which will build a Shariah-compliant specialist waqf hospital (Semenyih Specialist Hospital) by integrating physical, mental, and spiritual elements; Pahang Gold Sdn Bhd, which will develop a gold-based infaq (donating in the way of Allah) and waqf platform to enable the public to contribute charitably through gold assets; and Sedania As Salam Capital (SASC), which will leverage digital technology platforms to boost waqf and infaq funds through Islamic financial products.

Other partners include Emaan Catalyst Community (ECC), which will undertake community and social enterprise-based waqf projects; and Lokalities Group Sdn Bhd, which will collaborate in food preparation and distribution under YWM’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, such as the Infaq Sabil (spending for the cause of Allah) programme in Mekah.

Meanwhile, Sekretariat Infaq Nasional (SINA) will implement the National Infaq Programme, encouraging monthly infaq contributions starting from RM10 for community welfare, while Kowabunga! Global Pte Ltd will collaborate in the education sector through a Values-First approach, focusing on character and moral development among students.

“YWM highly appreciates the effort and commitment of all industry partners in advancing the waqf empowerment agenda in Malaysia,” the statement added.

The collaboration is seen as a key step in expanding the potential of waqf-based social innovation and ensuring that its benefits are shared inclusively among the people.
