KOTA BHARU, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has integrated the “Skuad Waja Siswa” into a special digital application known as 'Sinimo' as a reporting, monitoring and support platform for staff and students to deal with criminal violence such as bullying and sexual harassment.

Its vice-chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Arham Abdullah, said this initiative is also to strengthen the operations and effectiveness of the “Skuad Waja Siswa” on campus in helping individuals who are afraid to come forward to provide information on the problems they face.

"In this Sinimo application, we have also created a link for the Skuad Waja Siswa@UMK to make it easier for students and UMK staff to make complaints, without having to call or go to the office to report problems they face, especially regarding bullying or sexual harassment.

"Since it was created last month, we have not yet received any complaints regarding disciplinary cases involving bullying and so on. This is the result of the implementation of strict policies, continuous awareness education programmes and the inculcation of noble values among campus residents," he said.

He told this to reporters after the launch of the “Skuad Waja Siswa Negeri Kelantan” by the Deputy Director General of the Women's Development Department, Dr Faridah Awang, at the UMK Kota Campus, Pengkalan Chepa, here today.

Meanwhile, Dr Faridah said that to date, a total of 2,129 students nationwide have joined Skuad Waja.

"The Skuad Waja Siswa programme serves as a strategic platform to raise awareness about crime prevention and provide accurate, effective information on sexual and reproductive health.

“We aim not only to produce intellectually capable students, but also those who are wise and courageous in taking the right actions,” she said.

She added that the initiative aligns with the National Women’s Policy and the Women’s Development Action Plan (PTPW), which emphasise preventing violence against women, fostering a culture of respect, and promoting public safety that is more women-friendly.
