LABUAN, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- The musical rhythm, the sway of traditional dances, and the vivid tapestry of Borneo’s heritage are set to return as Borneo Arts Festival 2025 prepares to enliven this duty-free island from Nov 13 to 17.

With a line-up of fresh cultural programmes, the festival is poised to draw an estimated 35,000 visitors from across the country, Brunei and Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said this year’s festival embraces the essence of Borneo’s artistic soul, celebrating its people, colours and creativity, with new showcases designed to captivate both local and international guests.

Among the highlights, she said, are exhibitions of Kadayan ethnic traditional houses, displays of authentic costumes and a spread of traditional delicacies, offering visitors an immersive experience of Borneo’s living heritage.

Organised by Labuan Corporation, the annual Borneo Arts Festival continues to serve as a bridge of cultural exchange and artistic appreciation, showcasing the harmony of tradition and modernity that defines Borneo’s identity.

The festival venue has been shifted to the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex, a move endorsed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, to accommodate the larger crowd and provide a more scenic waterfront setting for performances and exhibitions.

Dr Zaliha also said the festival would also introduce vibrant night-time attractions, including Glow in the Dark; Light of Borneo; Warisan Glow, and a visual arts exhibition, designed to transform the island’s evenings into a celebration of light, music and movement.

“The Borneo Arts Festival has evolved into a symbol of unity and creativity, bringing together artists and communities from every corner of Borneo.

“With its new features and larger venue, Labuan will truly come alive as a destination for arts and cultural expression,” she added.
