FIMI Attracts RM300 Million Investment At MIPCOM 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- The appeal of the Film in Malaysia Incentive (FIMI) continues to yield positive results, successfully attracting investment commitments worth RM300 million at the Marché International des Programmes de Communication (MIPCOM) 2025, the world’s largest content market held in Cannes, France.

The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) said the achievement reflects international recognition of Malaysia’s growing competitiveness as a regional hub for filming and post-production.

According to FINAS, two global content companies - Banijay Group and Hasbro Entertainment - have confirmed investments and strategic collaborations in Malaysia through the FIMI initiative, which offers cash rebates of between 30 and 35 per cent to international production companies.

“Banijay Group, the producer of popular global reality and entertainment programmes such as Survivor, MasterChef and Temptation Island, has confirmed investment in an international-scale production series that will commence filming in Malaysia beginning in 2026,” FINAS said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Hasbro Entertainment - a key player in the animation industry and global franchises such as Transformers and My Little Pony, has agreed to enter into a long-term collaboration with a local studio, with the agency’s support, for the production of global animated content.

It added that the achievement also opens up new opportunities for local industry players through collaboration, technology transfer and talent development.

“FINAS remains committed to strengthening Malaysia’s position in the global content industry and ensuring that the benefits of these investments are enjoyed by domestic industry players,” it said.
