KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Richmond Asia Group has signed a Hotel Management Agreement (HMA) with Barceló Hotel Group to operate Richmond Estelar, a landmark hospitality-led development in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle.
A joint statement by both groups stated that the development slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2028 would comprise 199 exclusive hotel suites designed to blend the prestige of international hospitality with the resilience of income-generating real estate.
With its limited collection of suites in Kuala Lumpur’s most coveted district, where prime land is nearly impossible to replicate, the statement said Richmond Estelar, which was envisioned as a new benchmark in urban luxury, offers a truly rare ownership opportunity.
“Located within the KLCC-Bukit Bintang corridor, one of the city’s busiest hubs for international travellers, the milestone is set to drive stronger accommodation demand and higher spending.
“The area’s colonial-era shophouses have been reimagined into themed bars, fine dining restaurants, and concept stores, cementing its status as both a food haven and a lifestyle destination,” the statement read.
It said crowning the development would be a Michelin-starred sky dining experience, supported by world-class concierge services and refined architectural details.
“This integration of lifestyle and investment reflects Richmond Asia Group’s philosophy of creating premium, resilient assets that combine lifestyle and investment value,” it said, adding that Richmond Asia Group's partnership with Barceló Hotel Group was driven by the brand’s track record of excellence, international prestige, and operational expertise.
Richmond Asia Group chief executive officer and executive director Aaron Yap was quoted in the statement as saying that the partnership with Barceló Hotel Group marked a new chapter for Richmond Asia Group.
“By combining Barceló Hotel Group’s international standards with our investment-led strategy, we deliver world-class service and sustainable returns,” he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Barceló Hotel Group chief operations officer for the Mediterranean - Middle East and Asia, José Canals, said Barceló Hotel Group is poised to bring their decades of hospitality experience to this partnership to create a hotel that delights guests, adds value for investors and strengthens local communities.
Richmond Estelar also intends to introduce Barceló’s renowned culinary excellence to Kuala Lumpur.
Founded in 1931, Barceló Hotel Group, recognised for having the most Michelin stars, operates over 300 hotels in 30 countries. Hence, the collaboration would provide Richmond Estelar access to Barceló’s My Barceló loyalty programme with over four million members worldwide and accounts for 90 per cent of direct bookings.
Through Barceló’s travel division, Ávoris, which operates in 23 countries via well-known travel brands such as B Travel, Halcón Viajes, B Travel & Catai, Richmond Estelar’s reach is expected to extend far beyond Malaysia.
The statement said that the collaboration underscores Richmond Asia Group’s commitment to pioneering hospitality-driven investments that enhance Malaysia’s property landscape, with Richmond Estelar set to become an enduring symbol of international prestige in Malaysia.
