SWM Environment To Mobilise Nearly 3,000 Cleaning Workers For Deepavali

SEREMBAN, Oct 17 (Bernama) --  SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) will mobilise nearly 3,000 cleaning workers during the first and second days of the Deepavali celebrations to ensure that solid waste collection and public cleaning operations run smoothly throughout the festive period.

Its corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said the operation would also involve 236 compactor lorries and 117 open-tipper lorries deployed in their respective service areas to ensure cleaning work is carried out thoroughly and efficiently.

“Festive celebrations usually lead to a significant increase in solid waste. Therefore, we have planned a more systematic operational strategy with additional manpower and machinery,” he said.

“With this thorough preparation, SWM Environment is confident that solid waste management during the Deepavali festive season will be carried out more systematically, ensuring a clean and harmonious environment for the community to enjoy,” he said in a statement today.

He said that to ensure smooth solid waste collection operations during the festival, the collection schedule in several areas has been brought forward by one day, involving 24 locations in Nilai and 18 in Port Dickson for domestic waste collection, as well as 10 locations in Nilai for bulk waste collection.

Meanwhile, he called on the public to cooperate by not obstructing collection vehicles while cleaning work is being carried out in their respective areas.

Mohd Norlisam also reminded the public not to burn wheelie bins or set off firecrackers, as such actions could pose safety risks and damage public facilities provided by the company.
