KANGAR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- The Perlis branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is actively ensuring traders in the state comply with the implementation of the Deepavali 2025 Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP), which began yesterday and will run until Oct 22.
Its director, Rohaida Hassan said a total of 38 KPDN enforcement officers in the state conducted monitoring at focal locations such as supermarkets, public markets, and essential goods sales centres in the state throughout the implementation period of the scheme.
"So far, no complaints about price increases have been received, but monitoring will continue to ensure that traders comply with the set maximum prices and use pink labels for controlled price goods," she told reporters after the SHMMP Deepavali 2025 walkabout session at a supermarket here today.
Rohaida said they would take stern action if traders were found to fail to comply with the maximum price scheme and did not use the pink label for controlled price goods under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
For the record, there are nine items enforced under the Deepavali 2025 SHMMP, namely imported mutton (with bone), tomatoes, red chilies, small red onions, rose onions (from India) of the ROS type, imported large onions, Australian dhal, coconut kernels (wholesale level) and grated coconut (retail level).
