No Crime Or Serious Misconduct Cases At TVET Institutions So Far - Ahmad Zahid

17/10/2025 09:46 PM

SHAH ALAM, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- No criminal or serious misconduct cases involving students at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions have been reported so far, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said this positive record must be maintained, noting that TVET institutions place strong emphasis on discipline and conduct during student admissions to prevent any untoward incidents.

“For every TVET intake, the briefing includes proper conduct, which is constantly reinforced. We have 1,398 TVET institutions nationwide, and we coordinate efforts to ensure integrity and discipline among students,” said the National TVET Committee chairman after launching the ASEAN Sports Industry Expo 2025 here today.

In a separate development, Ahmad Zahid proposed that a specific policy on the sports industry be reintroduced to ensure the sector’s continuous growth without being affected by changes in leadership.‎

He said that although the sports industry has been promoted since the 1980s by the Youth and Sports Ministry, its implementation has been inconsistent due to frequent changes of ministers or secretaries-general.

“I think it would be good if a sports industry policy could be introduced and used as a guideline, as the sports industry market is vast — not only in our country but also in the ASEAN region.

“The global market is worth over US$688 billion, and even capturing a small share of that could make the sports sector a significant contributor to our national income,” he said.
