ALOR GAJAH, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- The official cost rate for performing the haj in the 2026 season will be announced by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) on Oct 22, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
He said the offer letters to prospective pilgrims would be distributed after the announcement by TH chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain.
“The cost rate, whether it increases or remains the same, is important to enable the issuance of offer letters to prospective pilgrims, and we will ensure it does not burden those selected,” he said.
“This is because we want to reduce the percentage of those rejecting haj offers, as quite a number declined their turn for the 2025 season,” he told reporters after officiating the Village Adoption Programme of the Religious Affairs Ministers of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS) at Dewan Terbuka Kampung Pulau Masjid Tanah here today.
He said TH had also taken proactive measures to ensure that pilgrims chosen for this year did not reject their offers, including identifying their whereabouts and updating data earlier.
He added that these efforts would help ensure that prospective pilgrims were fully prepared financially, physically and mentally before performing the haj.
Mohd Na’im said the measures would also prevent any ‘loss’ of the haj quota, which currently stands at 31,600 pilgrims.
