KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- The Jayanti Buddhist Temple in Pudu, here, today donated an ambulance to St. John Ambulance Malaysia (Federal Territory) to help strengthen emergency response services in the capital.
The temple’s advisor, Datuk Seri Boon Som Inong, said the ambulance, valued at over RM204,000, was funded through donations from Buddhist devotees at the temple.
“We know that every year, St. John Ambulance handles many cases, especially during festive seasons. We hope this contribution will assist them in helping accident victims and those in need,” he told Bernama after handing over the ambulance here today.
Also present were St. John Ambulance Federal Territory Deputy Commander Datuk Koh Mui Tee and Selangor Buddhist Association president Prasert Eh Chai.
Boon said the temple has carried out many charitable activities, including distributing essential items to those in need, but noted that the ambulance donation was the largest contribution made so far.
Meanwhile, Koh said the additional ambulance would enhance services, particularly for transferring patients or responding to hospital emergencies.
