SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Warisan Sound managing director Mohd Khair Ghazali has been named Selangor Art Figure at Majlis Anugerah Seni Negeri Selangor 2025, in recognition of his contributions to the development of the local music industry.
Mohd Khair, better known as Wak Khair, said over the past eight years, Warisan Hall Studio has helped many artists and aspiring musicians to train and hone their talents by providing high-quality studio facilities in Sijangkang, Kuala Langat.
“I’m happy that people appreciate my work. When I first wanted to open my own studio, some people said, ‘Who would come all the way to this village?’ But I went ahead anyway.
“Now, Alhamdulillah, it has even attracted musicians from countries such as Germany and Japan,” he said when met after the event, here today.
The award was presented by State Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, witnessed by National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) director-general Mohd Amran Mohd Haris.
The ceremony also saw the presentation of the Art Supporter Awards. Recipients included the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (PADAT) under the Government/Corporate category, and Sugam Malaysia Cultural Organisation under the non-governmental organisation (NGO) category.
For the Media category, the Art Supporter Award went to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Current Affairs News Division, while A. Bavany took home the Special Jury Award.
