21/10/2025 12:20 PM

PEKAN, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Alumni of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 will be given additional merit in the job application process in the public sector.

The Commander of the 4th Brigade (Mechanised), Brig-Gen Datuk Wan Mohd Faizal Shahrin Wan Mohamad Fablillah, said that through the merit system, the Public Service Commission (SPA) has set a special quota of 30 per cent for PLKN 3.0 alumni who sit for the Public Service Entrance Examination (PSEE).

"As for the Education Service Commission (SPP), the PLKN 3.0 certificate will be recognised as a supporting document, with the award of five merit points for co-curricular involvement.

"The Judicial and Legal Service Commission also provides a 30 per cent interview quota priority to alumni who pass the basic PSEE screening,” he told reporters at the training completion parade ceremony of PLKN 3.0 Series 3/2025 at the 505th Territorial Army Regiment Camp here today.

He added that the Police Force Commission (SPP) also offers an additional one per cent merit at the interview stage to PLKN 3.0 candidates who meet the basic requirements for appointment in the Royal Malaysia Police, while the Malaysian Armed Forces Council (MATM) considers special merit for alumni for selection as Cadet Officers.

'This merit is a government initiative designed to provide space and opportunities for PLKN alumni to find jobs in the public sector after completing their training, in addition to becoming a platform to attract more people to join the PLKN in the future,” he said.

At the event, a total of 419 trainees completed their training, which began on Sept 7 at the camp. It also saw 23-year-old Chang Xiang Zhao crowned as the best male trainee.

Chang expressed his gratitude after receiving the recognition, describing it as an achievement that was hard to attain.

"I also wish to thank all trainers who worked hard to teach and help us build strong character,” he said.

Chang, who hails from Ipoh, Perak, said that upon completing the programme, he intends to attend the SPP interview to pursue his ambition of becoming a chemistry or mathematics teacher.

"I recently graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and joined this (PLKN) programme voluntarily. While waiting for the interview, I might look for work as a MyStep or tuition teacher,” he said.

Meanwhile, he advised the younger generation to join the PLKN, which he described as crucial to developing self-discipline and helping participants set higher life goals.
