KOTA KINABALU, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- PKR practices the MADANI principle which emphasises unity and well-being of all Malaysians, said its vice president Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan.
He said PKR under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as party president prioritises equality and justice for all Malaysians, regardless of whether they are in the Peninsula or Sabah, in every party policy and decision.
"The Prime Minister's (administration) has adopted the MADANI concept. This MADANI will ensure that no one is left behind. So don't talk about whether it is a Peninsular party or a Borneo party. He (Anwar) really has a heart, he has the intention to improve and raise the standard of living not only of the people of Sabah but also of all Malaysians," he said
Ramanan, who is also the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, told Bernama after attending the MADANI Aspiration Programme organised by Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) here today.
The programme, which brought together more than 300 entrepreneurs from the Inanam area, was also attended by AIM chief executive officer Datuk Shamir Aziz.
According to Ramanan, the family spirit and culture of mutual assistance in PKR is also reflected in the relationship between the state and federal governments which need to support each other for mutual progress.
"If you don't help the state government, which is your younger brother, for now, who will take care of you? So what's important is that the federal government must cooperate with the state government," he said.
He also expressed his appreciation for the federal government's commitment to allocate RM6.9 billion to Sabah in the 2026 Budget, as proof of the Prime Minister's concern for development in the state.
Ramanan arrived in Sabah yesterday for a two-day visit including attending official ministry programmes as well as a meeting with PKR leadership members to face the 17th Sabah state election next month.
The EC has set Nov 29 as polling day for the state election, while the nomination date is set for Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.
