KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The historic landmark Stadium Merdeka is set to be enlivened with cheers, music, and a vibrant array of cultures for the RIUH x ASEAN Marketplace 2025, which will take place this weekend.
PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PNBMV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), announced in a statement that the three-day event, running from October 24 to 26, will bring together various creative activities, local entrepreneurs, and artistic performances from across the Southeast Asian region.
PNBMV Chief Executive Officer Datuk Tengku Ab Aziz Tengku Mahmud said the event reflects the spirit of inclusivity and togetherness, core values that underpin efforts to empower the community.
"We are excited to open our doors to a festival that unites the community while highlighting local talents, heritage, and culture, in line with the ongoing transformation of Stadium Merdeka under the Warisan KL initiative.
"This Marketplace provides a platform for local entrepreneurs from the Merdeka 118 Community Grant Programme, giving opportunities for small businesses and social enterprises to share their artworks and stories with a wider audience," he said.
Among those participating include Hanuni Halim with her decoupage art (artwork made from paper cutouts), Hara Maker with their upcycled plastic creations, as well as stingless bee honey products by the International Islamic University Malaysia (UIAM) community.
According to the statement, in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, the festival will also feature more than 100 retail and F&B brands, creative workshops, and stage performances from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Among artists who are set to entertain visitors are Aina Abdul, Estranged, Atilia Haron, and ALYPH from Singapore.
“With the backdrop of the newly revitalised Merdeka 118 Precinct, visitors can also explore the surrounding areas of Jalan Petaling, Chinatown, and Kampung Attap, which are now emerging as Kuala Lumpur's new cultural corridor, blending old heritage with contemporary lifestyles, art galleries, and modern boutique cafés,” the statement added.
