BSMM Strengthens Preparedness Ahead Of Northeast Monsoon Season

22/10/2025 06:05 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (BSMM) has stepped up disaster preparedness ahead of the northeast monsoon through strengthened coordination with government agencies, corporate partners and volunteers.

BSMM national chairperson Tunku Temenggong of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah said collaboration is crucial, as no single organisation can manage disaster response alone.

Speaking at a donation handover by Nestlé Malaysia here today, she stressed that joint efforts ensure timely aid reaches those in greatest need.

Nestlé Malaysia contributed 5,500 boxes of food aid to flood-prone states including Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Kedah, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.

BSMM has also mobilised logistics assets, volunteers and emergency supplies, including hygiene kits, blankets and equipment, as part of its readiness plan ahead of the monsoon season, which is expected to begin in early November.

Its secretary-general Datuk Danial Iskandar Abdul Rahman said the organisation is working closely with NADMA and other partners to ensure swift and effective response.
