PUTRAJAYA, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is making meticulous preparations, including enhanced security measures and protocol arrangements, to welcome the arrival of heads of state and delegations attending the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur from Oct 26 to 28.
Its managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani said that MAHB is working closely with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Foreign Ministry, the Ceremonial And International Conference Secretariat Division (BIUPA) and other government agencies to ensure that security and reception arrangements are carried out in accordance with established protocols.
“As the country’s airport operator, MAHB remains committed to ensuring a smooth, safe and welcoming arrival experience for all delegates,” he told Bernama.
Mohd Izani said special preparations undertaken included upgrading the VIP areas at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and the Bunga Raya Complex.
“Among the measures taken are arrangements for the arrival of delegations travelling on commercial flights through KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 to the Bunga Raya Complex, the provision of dedicated immigration lanes for delegates, and the establishment of a special reception counter,” he said.
Mohd Izani said the Bunga Raya Complex and VIP waiting areas at airports other than KLIA have also been upgraded and decorated with elements reflecting Malaysian culture, identity and tradition.
He added that MAHB continues to introduce various initiatives to showcase Malaysian arts, culture and heritage at its airports - not only to welcome ASEAN delegates, but also as part of early preparations for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).
“The cultural initiatives include the Heritage Lane, art performances at KLIA, and traditional dance showcases at the airport terminals,” he said.
In addition, he said ASEAN 2025 promotional materials are being displayed on Flight Information Display System (FIDS) screens, official social media platforms, and KLIATV.
The 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Oct 26 to 28.
More than 30 heads of state and government are scheduled to gather in the Malaysian capital to discuss a range of issues on regional peace, economic resilience, and inclusive growth under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, themed ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’.
