Mosques, Suraus Under JAKIM, JAWI Told To Hold Special Prayers For Al-Aqsa Mosque, Palestinians

24/10/2025 09:51 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- All mosques and suraus under the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) have been instructed to hold solat hajat (special prayers).

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, said this is as a show of support for the struggle and wel-being of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the people of Palestine, who now face various tests and hardships, as well as to seek the protection of Allah SWT.

Mohd Naim also urged all State Islamic Religious Departments to hold solat hajat and doa munajat.

“Let us, all Muslims, strengthen our prayers, solidarity and moral support for the struggle to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the symbol of the dignity and sanctity of Muslims worldwide,” he posted on Facebook today.

Mohd Na’im also expressed his sadness and concern over the latest reports in the international media regarding the condition of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is now facing the risk of collapse due to aggressive excavation work carried out by the Israeli zionist regime around and under the Old City of Jerusalem.

“Indeed, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is not just a historical building, it is the first kiblat (direction of prayer) of Muslims and among the three most sacred mosques in Islam.

“Every inch of its land is a symbol of tauhid (the oneness of God), unity and dignity of Muslims worldwide. As such, its security and well-being must be preserved and defended,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, JAKIM said that the solat hajat and doa munajat at all mosques and suraus under the management of JAKIM and JAWI will be held after today’s Friday prayers.

“These solat hajat and doa munajat will be held simultaneously as a manifestation of solidarity and unity among Malaysian Muslims in defending the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and upholding the struggle of the Palestinians.

“May this effort become a prayer flame that never goes out, strengthens the bond of Muslims around the world, and be the cause of Allah SWT's help to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians, who have been oppressed for so long,” it added.
