KUALA PILAH, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Forestry Department (JPNS) constantly monitors all registered forestry mountain guides in the state to ensure that aspects of climber safety and the quality of guiding services are at the best level.
Its director Hamidi Abd Halim said each mountain guide has also attended a course and the guides are required to renew their licences annually to maintain their level of skills and professionalism.
“All registered mountain guides should know their responsibilities and roles before, during and after climbing. A total of 77 mountain guides have been registered since August in the state, consisting of experienced individuals who have followed the prescribed training course.
“Alhamdulillah, in Negeri Sembilan everything is going well, no licenses have been withdrawn and no cases of climbing regulations violations have been reported,” he told reporters after flagging off the Angsi Forest Challenge (AFC) 2025 participants at Ulu Bendul Eco Forest Park here today.
He said there are 14 climbing tracks in Negeri Sembilan and the number is limited to avoid environmental damage and to facilitate control.
Meanwhile, he said the AFC 2025 programme for two days until tomorrow was attended by 900 participants including those from abroad such as Singapore, Japan, the United Kingdom and Canada and was part of the preparations for the Visit Negeri Sembilan Year (VNSY) 2026.
